Dalby & District Veterinary Services, part of the expanding Apiam Animal Health group, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced veterinarian to take on the role of Medical Director.

This is a senior position, designed for a strong leader who is ready to make a lasting impact on a well-established, mixed-practice clinic and is excited by the opportunity to guide a talented team.

We are a progressive, mixed-practice clinic that offers both general veterinary services for companion animals and production animal care to Dalby and surrounding areas. Our clinic has a rich history, having evolved from the combination of Knox Veterinary Clinic and Bell Veterinary Clinic, and we are proud to continue providing outstanding care to the local community.

Dalby & District Veterinary Services caters to a diverse range of clients, including ProDairy and ProFeedlot clients, alongside our loyal companion animal and farm clients. We are a team of seven vets with a strong support group of experienced nurses and a dedicated receptionist and clinic coordinator. We are a positive team who prioritises creating a strong workplace culture and enjoy working together.

As Medical Director, you will take a leadership role within the clinic, overseeing the medical operations while providing high-quality veterinary care to our diverse patient base. This is a senior role with the opportunity to mentor and guide our team, while contributing to the development of new services and innovative veterinary solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the clinic’s medical team with a focus on excellence in patient care, fostering a positive, collaborative, and results-driven work culture.
  • Provide direct veterinary care, including consultations, diagnostics, surgery, and treatment plans, across both small and large animal cases (approximately 70% small animal, 30% large animal).
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols and best practice guidelines to ensure consistency and quality of care.
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to junior veterinarians, fostering their professional growth and ensuring team cohesion.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients, offering clear explanations and advice regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of the clinic’s services and offerings.
  • Manage case load and after-hours requirements with the support of our Vetriage team to help filter calls.

Competitive salary package with a base salary of $140,000 – $160,000 + Super (dependent on experience)
