Can I use one membership for all my horses and receive the discounts, or does each individual horse have to be signed up?

Any inclusions and benefits of this membership are applicable only to the designated equine whose microchip matches the identification of the horse registered under the membership. Each horse needs to be signed up separately and will incur a membership fee per horse.

Can my Donkey or Miniature horse be a Mane Mates Member?

Yes, any equine can be signed up as a member and receive the same discounts and benefits.

What happens if I choose not to use one of the free inclusions in this package? Does it carry over to the following year?

Discounts and benefits remain valid strictly for the 12-month duration of the membership and are non-transferrable to subsequent years in the event of non-utilization.

What if my pet passes away?

If your horse passes away during the membership period, our team will work out the full value of the benefits received during the membership and refund the difference between the subscription fee and the full amount.

What is included in the free dental?

The free dental includes an oral examination by the veterinarian and then a corrective float to restore your horse’s dentition to normal structure and function within the limits of what is safe and possible to do so for the patient. The veterinarian will decide how much of the mouth can be corrected after the oral exam. Depending on the patient, some horses can never be corrected to “normal structure and function” however, they will be corrected as much as is possible and safe for that patient. 

The free dental does not include any extractions, nerve blocks, radiographs or repeat treatments that your horse may require, but remember, Mane Mates members will get 10% off all products and services and a 20% discount a second dental if your horse may require 6-monhtly dentals.

What if my horse is sold?

If your horse is sold during the membership period, our team will work out the full value of the benefits received during the membership and refund the difference between the subscription fee and the full amount.

What if I do not wish to vaccinate for 2in1?

You can choose not to use the free 2in1 vaccination included in your Mane Mates Membership. However, this cost will not be refunded from the package.

What if I do not wish to have my horses Dental performed by a Samford Equine Veterinarian?

You can choose not to use the free Dental including sedation included in your Mane Mates Membership. However, this cost will not be refunded from the package.

What if I do not wish to vaccinate for Hendra?

You can choose not to use the free Hendra vaccination included in your Mane Mates Membership however, this cost will not be refunded from the package.

What if my horse is not Hendra Vaccinated and is sick?

If you choose not protect your against Hendra Virus by keeping them up to date with their Hendra Vaccinations (according to the Zoetis National Registry) you can still be a Mane Mates Member. However, discounts do not apply to any services or products if your horse is sick and exhibiting any of the symptoms of Hendra Virus (to be determined by the attending vet). Discounts do not apply to any exclusion consultations, fees, PPE or services associated with a Hendra Exclusion.

The Mane Mates Program is an Apiam Animal Health Equine Services initiative that offers an annual membership to participating clients. The annual membership provides access to select veterinary services provided by Apiam Animal Health Samford Valley Veterinary Hospital. Services do not include veterinary services not provided by Apiam Animal Health participating Veterinary clinics unless specified.

Membership is limited to one (1) nominated Horse, defined as a domesticated equine per annual membership. Separate memberships must be purchased for each additional Horse owned by a participating client (‘member’) should they wish that animal to receive the same membership benefits.

Membership fees:

Payment must be received in full for membership to commence. The annual membership fee will be reviewed on 1 July of each year. Members will be advised of any change in the membership fee, and subsequent changes will apply from the anniversary of the commencement of membership where a member chooses to renew their membership. Membership is on an annual basis commencing from the date of subscription. A renewal notice will be sent to each member at least one (1) month prior to the expiry of the annual membership. Where a member animal dies, members may request a refund of membership fees by written notification to the Apiam Animal Health Veterinary Clinic where the membership was purchased. In such circumstances, members will be entitled to a reimbursement of the difference between the normal value of the goods and services obtained through the Mane Mates Program and the total of the annual membership payment. Membership may be transferred with the animal in circumstances where the animal has been sold, and the new owner agrees to the terms of the membership. In such circumstances, a refund as described above cannot be provided to the new member/owner if the animal dies.

Membership benefits are valid at Samford Valley Veterinary Hospital where the participating clinic normally provides or retails the products or services listed. Prices include GST.

Mane Mates Membership Entitles Members to the following services and benefits:

1. One FREE Health Check: Standard health check with appointments scheduled during standard operating hours for equine services. This Health Check must be at time of Dental and Vaccinations included in this membership. 

2. One FREE single dose of Equivac HeV: This FREE vaccine is valid for one single dose, any additional vaccines required for that horse in that 12-month period are an additional cost.  

3. One FREE single dose of Equivac 2 in 1: This Vaccine must be given at time of Dental and Health check included in this membership. This FREE vaccine is valid for one single dose, any additional vaccines required for that horse in that 12-month period are an additional cost.  

4. One FREE Dental Including Sedation: This dental is to be done at the time of health check, 2 in 1 and HeV vaccine. This is for a standard oral examination and performance float. Any additional dental procedures or treatments are an additional cost. 

5. One FREE Sheath Clean: One free sheath clean done under sedation in conjunction with Dental procedure. 

6. Two FREE Faecal Egg Counts: Can be done at any time of year. Manure for these counts must be dropped into reception at Samford Valley Vets to be run in house by trained staff members.

7. Discounted After-Hours Surcharge: The specified rebate applies solely to surcharges and does not extend to other products and services, which will continue to be subject to their standard charges. This offer is applicable only to the designated equine whose microchip matches the identification of the horse registered under the membership.

8. Discounted Medications & Professional Services: 10% discount on surgeries, imagery, diagnostics, anaesthetics, procedures, hospital treatment, and prescribed medications.

9. Discounted Parasite Control: 10% discount on parasite control products, including anthelmintics and external insecticides that are in stock at Samford Valley Veterinary Hospital.

10. 20% off a Second Dental including sedation: This is for horses that may have dental pathology that warrants a second dental examination and float in the 12-month period of the membership. 

11. Discounted Travel: 10km off the total km travelled from 10 Main Street Samford, Samford Village. Travel charges are additional to each visit and are not included in the consult or procedure cost. This applies to all properties visited within our designated service area or 25km from 10 Main Street Samford. 

Conditions and Exclusions:

1. Discounts and benefits included in the Mane Mates program cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or offers.
2. Discounts and benefits remain valid strictly for the 12-month duration of the membership and are non-transferrable to subsequent years in the event of non-utilization.
3. Excluding the afterhours discount, all other products and services included in the membership must be used during the standard operating/business hours of the Samford Valley Large Animal Vet Service, this is Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. 
4. Mane Mates Memberships are exclusively accessible to equines situated within the service area of Samford Valley Vets or within a 25km radius of 10 Main Street, Samford, QLD, 4520. Equines located outside this designated zone will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
5. In the circumstance where horses covered by the Mane Mates Membership reside outside the specified service area and are granted inclusion in the membership, all Vaccines, health checks, and dentals must be scheduled for a Wednesday morning “Northern Run.”
6. The Equine Health Check inclusion: The veterinarian will conduct an examination of the horse to evaluate its overall health as per their professional judgment. The attending veterinarian has the authority to recommend suitable diagnostic procedures based on the horse’s individual requirements. The check may involve physical examination, medical history review, vital signs assessment, and other relevant evaluations, as determined necessary by the vet. All other diagnostics or workups will be an additional cost. 
7. Any inclusions and benefits of this membership are applicable only to the designated equine whose microchip matches the identification of the horse registered under the membership.
8. Discounts do not apply to Pre-Purchase Examinations or the associated diagnostics as part of this exam. 
9. Discounts do not apply to Reproductive services.
10. Discounts do not apply to foals of the mare that is a member of Mane Mates. 
11. Membership is valid only for use with Samford Valley Veterinary Hospital only. It does not extend to any other hospital’s or clinic’s services. 
12. Members of Mane Mates do not have to utilise the Hendra Vaccination as part of this package if they do not wish to do so. However, if the equine on the Mane Mates program does not have an up to date protected status on the Zoetis Hendra Vaccine registry, the discounts do not apply to any costs or services associated with doing a Hendra Exclusion if the patient is sick. 
13. No refund or part refund will be given any of the inclusions are not utilised. 
14. Discounts do not apply to any external laboratory or testing fees. 
15. Discounts do not apply to compounded medication. 

Fair Use Policy:

Mane Mates members acknowledge the terms and conditions of their membership and agree that the membership benefits are limited to reasonable usage, determined by the Apiam Animal Health Vet. If unreasonable use is determined, the vet may notify the member in writing that usage has become unreasonable. If the unreasonable usage continues, the vet may terminate the membership without additional notice.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The member acknowledges these terms and conditions and agrees that by applying for membership and/or accepting any membership benefits, they are bound by these terms and conditions and any other terms and conditions notified by Apiam Animal Health Vet from time to time.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

The Mane Mates Program is not pet insurance. By becoming a member of the Mane Mates Program, you are not obtaining pet insurance coverage. Terms and conditions are current as of 1st July 2023.
